Bitch Session - Radio Commercials

calvin1 Can you stand another Bitch Session about commercials? I think I bitched about this once before but it sure as hell rates a second Session.

Micky D’s have decided to once again start running back to back commercials. They finish one on the radio and immediately go into a second. The first commercial was irritating … this just made it doubly so.

I’d previously mentioned that I have a radio on at work all day. I generally listen to classic rock with bouts of hard rock thrown in. The problem is the fact that they will play maybe five or six songs and then go into commercial for at least fifteen minutes — and all of it repetitious. So I can count on hearing about high blood pressure medication, how wonderful McDonald’s food is for me, pain management, people afraid to go to the dentist and eye lasik surgery, on a regular basis. This will happen at least ten times between my 8:00 and 5:00 work day.

Granted, I have the radio on mostly for background sound. Half the time I don’t even listen to it because I’m busy running around doing this and that. However, when it does catch my attention, I will more often than not switch the radio off for several minutes before deeming it safe once more.

Got any irritating commercials you want to share? There’s gotta be hundreds out there.

Eek! I had a long comment, and your blog erased it. Okay, here it is again. I don’t listen to radio enough to be irritated by their commercials, but the pro-lifers must have a lot of money. I see their commercials on just about every show I watch. That can’t be cheap. I question their statistics, too, because we know statistics can be skewed.

The other one I dislike is the Progressive Insurance commercials. I admit that I kind of like the Geicko commercials. That gecko is cute.

Damn spam catcher. That thing is evil — EVIL, I say!

Personally, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a commercial put out by the pro-lifers. But then again, I don’t watch much television.

The little darlin’ on the other hand, repeats, performs and sings every commercial she sees on television. Drives me nuts!

Nothing irritates me more than to see commercials–doesn’t matter which ones–during movie previews. As if we dpn’t get enough of them at home, now they have to follow us to the overly priced theaters, too? What the heck? No, I don’t want to buy your Coke, be recruited by the armed forces, or buy a new car. I’m good, thank you very much.

  4. Liz Says:

Oh, I hear ya there, Marcia. The little darlin’ and I were even at the movies last week and was bitchin’ ’bout that. It is bad enough to see them everywhere. Don’t need it in the movie theater.

  5. Theresa Says:

I don’t listen to much radio, so no commercials to complain about. I used to like commercials on television though. I could fast forward through the boring ones with the DRV, and you could at least count on a couple of cut ones to tickle me during any given show.

My favorite of all time though, was the cat wrangler one. I still laugh when I think of that one.

btw– I’ve figured out how to out smart your spam filter. I just copy what I’ve written before typing the code it. That way when the filter eats it, I can just keep pasting until it gets full.

LOL. That’s what I’ve been doing, Theresa. Even I have to cut and copy at least once before my spam catcher will accept my comments. Pitiful … that’s all I gotta say.

I was thinking of you when I wrote that blog since I know you’d mentioned before that you had sold your television. Don’t have to worry ’bout them commercials. I agree with the cat wrangler commercial. I remember seeing that during a SuperBowl a couple of years ago but haven’t seen it since. I also admit that I liked the one for Tobasco Sauce where the guy is eating pizza drenched in the stuff and lets a mosquito land on him. The exploding mosquito was hilarious.

I have also learned to copy my comments before putting in the spam code.

The one commercial I am getting sick of on TV is the stupid little eye balls on a pile of money everywhere.

  8. Liz Kreger Says:

LOL. Personally I find that a bit funny, Marg. A little creepy but funny.
