Wow - Reading Material
What are you reading right now? Lately I’ve been finding it difficult to settle on just one book … so right now I have three going … plus my WIP. The books are just for my own reading pleasure. A bit of a break from writing. Or you could call it research … whatever.
While at work, I try to sneak in a few pages here and there. The book I’m reading there is something light “Butterfly Wishes”. If and when I have time once I get home, I’m reading a sci fi/romance by Linnea Sinclair and before going to bed, I’m reading something dark and violent “Red” by Jordan Sommers … how disturbing is that?
Yes, it takes me forever to complete a book, but I don’t feel that reading is a race. Books are meant to be savored and enjoyed. If it’s a particularly good book, yes, it seems like you hurry through it … but then its over.
Hubby thinks I’m out of my mind and my daughter has absolutely no idea how I manage to keep track of them. If you’re an avid reader, this is no problem. At least I don’t think it’s a problem. Are you able to juggle several books at a time?

I was too busy last week to read, but I have Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ newest book waiting for me at the library. Guess what I’m going to be doing tonight?

Gotta take the time to recharge those batteries, Edie. However, I do know how tough it is to juggle. Between writing and the promoting for the ATV, its gotta be difficult to find the time to read for pleasure.

Hey Liz, thanks for the mention, GF! Hopefully, Butterfly will be like a sphinx rising one day!
I just read Firefly Lane for my magical review, and unable to get into another fiction right away. I’m reading a non-fiction on 2012, and it’s a collection of essays from some of the greatest thinkers. Yep, I’m a non-fiction junkie on the side.

I have three books going - “The Hands Feel It”, which is about Inupiaq Eskimo healing practices. Another book is called “Messages from the Masters”, which is about past-lives and spirituality and the teachings the author’s learned over the years - since I’ve been looking into spirituality through my own treatment. And, the third is one I just picked up at the library book sale entitled “Spontaneous Healing” by Andrew Weil. Hmm, ya think there’s a pattern here?
I’ve been doing a lot of magazine reading, too. I got really behind. Recent articles have a lot to do with the economy and also sustainable energy use.
When I read a book for pleasure, I often read it cover-to-cover, but that requires a long time commitment. When I’m in the middle of the term, I can’t afford that kind of time - so I read stuff that I can read in bits and pieces.

Wow. Those choices are way beyond my “reading for pleasure” selections.
Still, reading is what you get out of it. It sounds like you’re taking some serious steps to aid your healing and your mental well-being. Way to go, Dee.
When I get a chance to read, its usually for the mindless pleasure of it. I’ve got to recharge those batteries and make sure writing ideas continue to find their way into my head.
