Cancer Warrior - CCFH - Round Three

StLouisYep, that’s right. Had my third treatment of the Chemo Cocktail From Hell yesterday … all six hours of it. Then to make things a little more interesting, we get socked by a snowstorm right around 10:00 a.m., so by the time I left (2:45ish) we already had around three inches of the white stuff on the ground. The traffic was surprising courteous and the roads in fair condition. Thank you Milwaukee County. Called work and asked if it was absolutely necessary to haul my butt downtown for what would actually be around an hour and a half of work, and was told there was nothing pressing. Yay! So homeward I headed … after pickin’ up the little darlin’ at school.

No reactions to the CCFH yet (beyond feelin’ tired), but this is early in the game. I expect any reactions to begin on Saturday.

Saw Dr. Mac before treatment. She’s pleased that the pain patch is working and that this is a very low dosage. Think I’ll give her a call and ask for a slightly higher prescription renewal. I’m still popping two Vicodine to cushion some pain, so perhaps a higher dosage of the patch might take care of that. I also mentioned the increase in my neuropathy and she suggested taking a noon time dose of the Gabapatin. We’ll see how that goes.

Beyond that, we’re running the tumor marker numbers again and I should get a call today or Monday with the results. Fingers are crossed. If the present treatment isn’t working, we’re gonna look into the T/DM1 which is just coming on the market.

And remember to repeat after me …“YOU ARE A CANCER WARRIOR”

Fingers crossed for you! I thought about you yesterday with the snow. I’m glad you got to go home right after the chemo. The traffic probably got worse later on.

  2. Liz Kreger Says:

Thanx, Edie. I’m sure the traffic got worse and I really didn’t fancy driving downtown for only an hour or so at work. If there was nothing pressing … good. I would have come in if there was work that HAD to go out.

So far, so good. Feeling pretty good right now, but then I’m taking those steroids. Want to eat everything in sight.
