Cancer Warrior - Status Quo and Fentanyl
Actually had a pretty good week … believe it or not. Could be onna counta of the new pain patch Dr. Mac has put me on. It’s called Fentanyl and is about the size of my small finger nail. She said something about the amount of Vicodine that I was taking wasn’t good for my liver, that it causes inflamation. To which I replied that “my liver didn’t like me anyway”. Her response? “Why make it worse?” Why indeed.
So I started the patches last Sunday and it really didn’t kick in until Monday. After that? Wow! Amazing how well it worked. I feel like I have more energy and the pain level did drop. I had all of two or three Vicodine during the course of the day. I think just the pain drop contributed quite a bit to my energy level. You never really realize how debilitating pain can be and how it exhausts you. I guess I was just used to it. Either way … I’m likin’ the Fentanyl.
Didn’t have to go to my nurse visit yesterday. Was feelin’ pretty good, so I called and cancelled. Didn’t need any fluid top up. So, I guess you can say, this was a pretty decent week for me. Here’s hopin’ I get a lot more like ‘em.
And remember to repeat after me …“YOU ARE A CANCER WARRIOR”

Thanx, Edie. Yes, the fatigue is still there, but not at the previous level. Amazing what a tiny little patch can do. Happy camper right now.
