Cancer Warrior - Doomed

StLouisDid my nurse visit yesterday. I think I mentioned that Dr. Mac wants me to be monitored for a month or so following this new treatment … and yesterday was my second Thursday visit. Went rather well … normal temperature, normal blood pressure, etc. … until Paula gave me the results of my bloodwork. Seems that both my red blood cells and white cells are way (WAY) below the norm.

Uh … not good.

Under normal circumstances, those would begin rising this coming week, thereby allowing me to engage in the second round of my chemo cocktail. (Oh, goody. I’m so looking forward to being sick as a dog for another week — bleh) I also got a shot to ensure that the red blood cells will begin rejuvenating — fast, I hope.

Told Paula that bossman is sporting a humongously nasty cold, one of the other attorney’s cold is making a come back and that hubby just woke sniffling and coughing. She just shook her head and said that I gotta wash, wash, wash my hands constantly and try to stay out of direct contact.

How the hell am I gonna do that? I went into bossman’s office yesterday and I can feel the germs crawling all over me. Ewwwww. Now — I haven’t had a real, full blown cold in probably five years. I figure the chemos I’ve been on has something to do with that. However, this particular cocktail seems to have lowered a lot of my natural resistence. Something that I’ve never really had a problem with in the past.

I’m doomed. I just know it. If I get this cold, I’m gonna do some mighty loud bitchin’ to anyone within earshot.

And remember to repeat after me …“YOU ARE A CANCER WARRIOR”

Awww. I hope you don’t get that cold. I haven’t had a cold that lasted beyond the sniffle beginnings for more than a few years. It might be because of all the supplements I’m taking, but it’s probably because I work out of my home.

    Good luck on staying healthy!!!!

I’m hoping to avoid this. The cold that’s going around seems to get better for a little while, and then returns for a second time around when you least expect it. Or so that seems. Hubby was recovered a good week or so before this recurred and the attorney at work? Same thing. He was getting better, and bam! Nailed again.

Here’s hopin’ I dodge this bullet.
