Doncha hate it when a movie doesn’t live up to your expectations? Or worse yet … when a movie is way below any type of expectation. Particularly if you cough up the nearly twenty bucks and actually go to a movie theater.
Did that a couple of weeks ago with my brother. We’d both seen the trailers of the movie “Sky-Line”. It was a sci fi, which we both love and we decided to check it out. It looked exciting. It looked like it had great special effects. It looked like it would be a good story.
What a disappointment. The story was lame, the special effects nothing special and the acting couldn’t have been worse. There was a blown twenty bucks. The good news is that my brother treated me … so I wasn’t the one out the dough. Still — we were both bummed because we had such high expectations.
I’m well aware of the fact that the powers that release movies make sure some of the best pieces are shown or hinted at in the trailers … and that’s exactly what they did in this particular one. Unfortunately, the pieces shown were also the only good parts of the whole movie.
I really don’t often go to the movies. Usually prefer to rent ‘em. Well, this makes me doubly cautious of trailers I see in the future. Will probably pay more attention to the reviews and see what others have to say about a movie before I invest the time and money in a loser.
